In order to investigate the usefulness of a wheelchair with casters using suspension function, comparison experiments were performed with 2 wheelchairs: one with solid casters (SC) and one with casters using suspension function (CSF). In the experiments, they were passed through the steps from 10 mm to 50 mm in manual speed and constant speed of 0.6 m/s. In the evaluation, the strain change of the wheelchair frame, the change of center of gravity of the testee, the acceleration in the front-back direction of the head and the acceleration in the up-down direction of the upper torso were measured. As a results of SC and CSF, the former two metrics and the maximum of the latter two metrics tended to increase as the step became higher. As a results of CSF, the former first metric and the maximum of the latter second metric were smaller than SC.
