Making origami objects, which is creative play using fingers, is effective in anti-aging, dementia prevention and rehabilitation. The origami creation process is introduced on books, the Internet, etc. However, since they are explained by two-dimensional representations, it is difficult to understand many complicated operations to fold. In this paper, we describe a method of representing origami models in 3D computer graphics and present an origami system by which the user can easily understand the various stages of the creation procedure. The features of this system are as follows: (1)It shows the process of creating the origami object, which can be viewed from any angle. (2)The user can manoeuvre through the various stages of making the origami object, going backwards and forwards from stage to stage as desired. (3)Two types of folding lines called mountain fold and valley fold can be displayed, and a diagram of the unfolded origami object can be also printed. This system has been actually evaluated through use by the elderly, and its questionnaires. Consequently, it is shown that the origami creation process with 3D representations is very intelligible for the users.
